CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Pre School 3-5 years.
This is an introduction to classical ballet using creative, imaginative role-playing and fun props. This class may involve pretending to be animals, playing instruments to learn rhythm, learning balancing, skipping, and running and techniques using costumes and ribbons, or picking up “diamonds” (shhh…they’re just feathers) from the ground to develop their hand-eye coordination.
This class is suitable for both boys and girls who are having so much fun that they don’t even realise that they are learning the fundamentals of ballet technique along the way.
Pre School 2-5 years.
Our mission is to get the world moving one pre-schooler at a time! Building confidence, coordination and creativity, our classes are jam packed with fun! A ONE HOUR COMBO CLASS OF JAZZ, TAP, HIP HOP, SINGING, MUSIC AND A WHOLE LOT OF FUN! Children are extended across the various developmental domains of physical, cognitive, language and social development.
Ready Set Dance offers much to support the play and learning of young children in Australia and beyond. Allstars Performing Arts is the official READY SET DANCE location in Forest Lake.
Pre School 3-5 years.
This program focusses on physical literacy. You can expect to find skills like pike position, skipping, marching, pre-cartwheels, plie’, Tendu etc. The focus of this program includes learning the acro positions, locomotive skills (jumping hopping etc), balance skills, classroom behaviour skills, movement concepts, cooperation, and social skills. Student report cards, colouring pages, imaginary play, fun, and games form part of this program.
BALLET, JAZZ, TAP CLASSES – ALL AGE LEVELS
C.S.T.D BALLET GRADES:
In these classes, our dancers build on their ballet technique using creative roleplay, costumes, props and will thrive from positive reinforcement. There are opportunities for students in these classes to participate in ballet exams which will encourage them to progress through the program/syllabus and work hard to move up into the next graded level. EXAMS are not compulsory.
C.S.T.D JAZZ GRADES:
Students build upon the basics of jazz technique to popular and age appropriate music. Some examples of the techniques our jazz students will learn include turns, kicks, leaps, and body isolations. EXAMS are not compulsory. A Jazz, tricks, and lifts class for 5-7-year old’s is also available.
C.S.T.D TAP GRADES:
In these class students build upon the basics of tap technique as well as building on their sense of rhythm and their confidence when it comes to performances. Our tappers love dancing to popular, age-appropriate music and getting LOUD! Our modern tap syllabus is fun! EXAMS are not compulsory.
C.S.T.D CONTEMPORARY GRADES:
World-famous choreographer Jason Winters has collaborated with CSTD on this new comprehensive Contemporary Technique syllabus. Its technique and structure are designed in the most classical and academic way and infused with choreographic electricity used in today’s most commercial settings. Both junior and senior classes available. EXAMS are not compulsory.
This program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in the five divisions of ACRODANCE: flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Developed with input from professionals and experts on ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sports acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program.
Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and summersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage. Student levels will be assessed by our comprehensive coaching team at regular intervals with students progressing through the levels when appropriate. Opportunities exist for students to join our competitive Acrobatic team/s (upon invitation from our head of Acrobatics).
Hip Hop classes are available for all ages at ALLSTARS, including competitive crews. Please see the timetable for the suitable age group (including pre school Hip Hop via PRESCHOOL DANCE).
MUSICAL THEATRE
Musical theatre provides an inclusive and safe environment for students to express their personalities through their passion. The classes are split up into Juniors (ages 5-8), Intermediate (ages 9-12) and Seniors (ages 13 onwards). Within the classes we will explore vocal work and technique, scripts/monologues and audition pieces as well as fun acting games and exercises. We will also work on choreography and implementing characters and stories while dancing.
Note: the senior class will also work with chorus heels and learning the basic technique of dancing in heels.
